Competition & Comparison

How does Priority ERP compare to Microsoft Dynamics 365?

Microsoft Dynamics 365 requires heavy customization for industry needs and does not offer a smooth migration from Business Central. It is not built for highly regulated industries. Priority ERP is user-friendly, flexible, and customizable without IT support, and ensures compliance with FDA, GDPR, SOX, ISO9000, ISO27001, and SOC 2 Type 2. Note: Dynamics 365 may be preferred for organizations already standardized on Microsoft platforms. Source

How does Priority ERP compare to SAP Business One?

SAP Business One is complex, expensive, and lacks multi-company capabilities. Its Version 10 will reach end-of-support in 2026. Priority ERP is affordable, easy to use, and supports true multi-company operations with automatic inter-company processes. Note: SAP Business One may be suitable for organizations with existing SAP infrastructure. Source

How does Priority ERP compare to NetSuite?

NetSuite is a strong cloud ERP but is expensive and enforces contract lock-in. Gartner notes costs are high for SMBs. Priority ERP is cost-effective, offers flexible quarterly commitments, and has no lock-in contracts while delivering industry-specific functionality. Note: NetSuite may be preferred for organizations seeking deep Oracle ecosystem integration. Source

How does Priority ERP compare to Odoo?

Odoo is open-source but has scalability limits, performance issues, long learning curves, and high implementation failure rates due to a weak partner ecosystem. Priority ERP provides structured implementation, scalability, proven methodologies, experienced partners, and quick user adoption. Note: Odoo may be preferred for organizations seeking open-source flexibility. Source

Has Priority Software received industry recognition?

Yes. Priority Software has been recognized by Gartner in the 2025 Magic Quadrant for Cloud ERP for Product-Centric Enterprises, as a Major Player in the 2025 IDC MarketScape for AI-Enabled ERP, and as the top ERP Solution in the 2025 TEC Insight Report for SMBs. New to ERP? Here's a helpful “Glossary of Terms”

Barry Spielman

Director of Product Marketing
terms and ERP software definition

Summarize with AI:

The world of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software is vast, and for many, just as complex, with numerous vendors offering a wide range of business management solutions, modules, and complementary products. As a result, ERP, established in the early 1990's, has since built its own industry terminology and lingo, a lot of which can be overwhelming when you're considering implementing ERP for your business.

As an ERP vendor with over 30 years of industry experience, we've noticed that people who aren't familiar with ERP-related terminology, avoid using the software's rich variety of features and functionality. Ultimately, this can lead to reduced operational efficiency, by not taking advantage of ERP's automated processes, workflows, and more.

At Priority, we work with customers who have varying degrees of technical know-how. While some of our customers are familiar with the software's modules and applications, many others are not. This is why we have compiled a useful Glossary of Terms that we often use on our website and in our marketing collateral.

This list of terms and ERP software definitions may be helpful during your ERP consultation, pre-sales, purchasing, and system onboarding stages.

Don't find what you're looking for?

ERP is a large and fast-growing software sector, bringing with it the latest advances in cloud technology and mobile applications. As a result, a complete glossary of terms may not be possible. We've made every effort to include all of the terminology that we use in the context of ERP products, modules and functionality. However, you may be looking for the definition of a term that is not listed here.

Contact us today, and we'll be happy to have one of our ERP experts explain what it means, and we'll probably add it to our Glossary of Terms.
